Chromebook Shortcuts - Tips and Tricks

Chrome OS has several keyboard shortcuts to help you navigate and perform various tasks more efficiently. Here are some common Chromebook keyboard shortcuts:

General Shortcuts:

  • Ctrl + Alt + / (or Search key): Display keyboard shortcut reference.
  • Ctrl + Shift + Q (twice): Sign out of your Google Account.
  • Ctrl + Alt + T: Open the terminal (if Linux (Beta) is enabled).
  • Ctrl + Shift + Esc: Open Task Manager.

Browser Shortcuts:

  • Ctrl + T: Open a new browser tab.
  • Ctrl + W: Close the current tab.
  • Ctrl + Shift + T: Reopen the last closed tab.
  • Ctrl + 1-8: Switch between open tabs.
  • Ctrl + 9: Switch to the last tab.

Window Management:

  • Alt + [: Dock a window on the left side.
  • Alt + ]: Dock a window on the right side.
  • Alt + /: Maximize or restore a window.

Accessibility Shortcuts:

  • Ctrl + Alt + Z: Enable or disable ChromeVox (screen reader).
  • Ctrl + Alt + N: Enable or disable high contrast mode.
  • Ctrl + Search + H: Enable or disable spoken feedback.
  • Ctrl + Search + B: Enable or disable the screen magnifier.
